Early Access
An Early Access version of Dragontwin is now being rolled out to Patreon supporters. This will be the first phase of Early Access until the game is ready for a wider audience, at which point it will move on to Steam Early Access.
Current Patreon tiers with access: Guardian (Tier 5), Legend (Tier 4)
How it works
For each new build (including the first one), access is granted to patrons in batches based on descending tier order with two week intervals. This means the highest tier gets access first, the second highest two weeks later, and so on. This interval was chosen as it gives the current batch enough time to play and report potential issues, the developers enough time to fix the issues before the next batch, as well as it being significant enough to reward higher tier patrons for their contribution without hindering lower tier patrons from enjoying the game at a slightly later date. Each time a new tier gets access, the game is also updated based on player feedback and potentially with smaller content additions.
Features
The first build will feature just free flying as seen in the showcase videos, in a similar landscape with dynamic time of day and weather. More features and content will be added in subsequent builds, with the highest priority features being dragon ground movement, dragon customization, landscape improvements, destructible buildings and battles.
Important notes
This phase of Early Access is first and foremost a way for dedicated fans to support the game, and in return get to play it early and shape the course of development with their feedback. Unlike Steam Early Access, it is not a purchase or pre-order of the game and requires an active Patreon membership to play (which can of course be cancelled at any time and for example renewed at the lowest tier every few months to try the latest additions). For those looking to buy a copy of the full game, it is better to wait until Steam Early Access or a potential Kickstarter campaign in the future.
