Dragontwin aims to be an open-world single-player dragon riding sandbox with a mix of RPG/strategy elements and a focus on creative player expression.

This represents the vision for the game, it is not guaranteed that all planned features make it in the end. Dragontwin is a very ambitious project that will require substantial funding and team expansion to fulfill and the scope will be scaled accordingly as the situation evolves over the course of development.

Unmatched animation fidelity

Dragons in Dragontwin are brought to life using a sophisticated animation system that synthesizes believable and weighty movements on the fly instead of relying on baked animation clips.​

 

The aim is to match the quality of pre-rendered cinematic animations in an interactive game setting.​​​

Fire is the most important VFX element in a game that revolves around dragons, which is why the fire in Dragontwin is meticulously crafted to feel powerful and look satisfying while allowing for full customizability.​​​

The player finds a hideout at the start of the game which acts as a base of operations throughout their adventure. It starts out as an empty cave that gets progressively upgraded into their own stronghold.​​​

Open World

The player enters large open world regions from the world map, in which they can freely fly around, explore and interact with the world.

The world interactions include settlement interactions, random events and various side activities.

Destructible Environments

Experience the might of dragons with fully destructible buildings and environments.

While initial experiments have been successful on a smaller scale, the goal is to allow for city-wide destruction without having the game grind to a halt while processing the simulation. Alternative GPU-powered destruction systems will be explored to support this.

Epic Battles

 

Command armies from the back of your dragon in epic battles numbering several thousands of soldiers.

 

Rain fire from the skies, rally troops to the sound of the Dragon Horn and incinerate the enemy ranks in a blazing inferno, but be wary - they may field anti-dragon weaponry to shoot you out of the sky, or a hostile Dragontwin that pursues you from the air.​​​​​

Engage in a simple grand strategy game mode by taking control of world regions through diplomacy or conquest.
